School Meals

Click on the attachments at the bottom of the page for the current menu offer from Aspens. At this difficult time we are offering cold lunches as all children eating in the lunch hall can not be facilitated under the social distancing and additional cleaning measures we need in place to keep our children safe.

The team at Aspens work with the school and parents to provide meals for children with special dietary requirements, including allergies.

Free School Meals (FSM)

North Somerset Council have issued some fantastic information regarding Free School Meals  and Universal Infant Free School Meals which came into force in September 2014 for all Reception (EYFS), Year 1 & 2 pupils.

Please click 'here' go to the North Somerset website which provides further information and where you can complete an application.

To clarify maters;

Children in EYFS & Years 1 & 2 will automatically be eligible for a free school meal. All they need to do is tell their teacher at registration whether they will be having a hot meal each day. You will need to provide a packed lunch if they are not going to have a hot meal.

However, if you think your child would be eligible for FSM regardless of what year they are in then please fill out the application form, even if your child is in EYFS or Key Stage 1.  If your child continues to be eligible for FSM you will not need to re-apply when they reach Year 3, they will continue to receive their entitlement to FSM.

The school receives valuable extra funding of £1,300 per child per year for the six years following your successful application. This is used to support individual pupils and the whole school community.

Please contact Claire Hardwidge if you are unsure and she  will assist you through the process.

Healthy Lunch Boxes

A child at school should have about a third of their daily nutrient requirements at lunchtime. This means they need food that are going to provide them with enough energy, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals.

Here is a link to the Nutritionist Resource website that provides the public with easy access to nutritional advice from professionals and also has some great ideas for packed lunches.
