Physical Education
Children have access to a wide range of sports through our PE curriculum and a range of after school clubs that are provided by Shine.
Children will take part in approximately 2 hours of PE and physical activity during the school week with opportunities for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Competitive Sports and Inclusion
In KS1 our children take part in competitions with other schools through earning points which can be compared across the town.
In KS2 children take part in a range of sports competitions in the locality and North Somerset. Children are asked to volunteer and in Years 5 and 6 teams are then selected by ability. We work carefully to maximise the opportunity for a wide range of children to represent the school.
During lunchtimes, we have a sports coach who runs sports activities for children.
Our PE lead works closely with staff and outside providers to ensure we offer a wide range of opportunities for all pupils, including activities for children with disabilities to ensure that all children feel valued and included and to promote respect for diversity.
Sports Days
We hold a sports day for each key stage to allow the maximum opportunity for children to take part. In the mornings all children take part in a wide range of activities, earning points for their Houses.
In the afternoon, children will have been preselected through heats to take part in final individual competitive races and activities.
We are proud to have been awarded the Gold Standard School Games Award for 3 years in a row.
