Parent Tours - Including SEND Information
Update: September 2020
Because of the current COVID 19 risk the school does not plan to offer school tours in September. This will be reviewed once our children have settled in and we may look to offer a visit opportunity in a different way, or if the government guidance changes. This is to prevent the risk of spreading the virus in the school community which could cause a further school Lockdown.
If we are unable to begin tours, we will add more information to the webpage, including the presentation that the headteacher delivers during these tours.
We thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
New EYFS Intake
The school offers around 10 school tours between September and December for parents who are considering applying for a Reception intake place the following September. These are almost always delivered by the headteacher and include an informal presentation, a walk of the school and an opportunity to ask questions at the end.
Parents of Children with additional Needs looking for an EYFS Place
We ask that parents of children looking to apply for a place in Reception sign up for a tour to come and hear about our philosophy and ethos and visit the school site to view our facilities. You will be able to have a brief chat with the headteacher at the end but this should only be considered as a first step.
Following the visit or after the tour we recommend that you then make a second appointment to come back to the school and meet the inclusion leader who can discuss in depth how we would aim to meet your child's needs. This will give you all of the information you should need to make an informed decision about whether our school is a suitable place for your child. Some parents may feel that step one provides sufficient information to help make a decision but should be mindful that the opportunity to speak to the headteacher will be limited at the end of the tour and is not in private.
Parents looking to move schools in other Year Groups
The school offers a meeting with the head and tour of the school to parents where there is a space available in a year group and a parent has applied or is considering applying for that space. Unfortunately we can not offer tours of the school to everyone who would like a general tour when there is no space. If your child has additional needs, when you call to make the appointment please let the office know this and they will arrange a tour when the inclusion lead is available to meet you.
