Each class will take part in 3 Forest School sessions during this academic year. This builds on our existing commitment to outdoor education which saw the introduction of a Year 4 residential last year as well as the Year 6 outdoor and adventurous week in Saundersfoot, Wales which is long established.
Sessions are planned and lead by Mrs Wallace who is an outdoor education specialist and member of school staff.
It is an essential element of our curriculum approach to ensure that all children get to spend some school time surrounded by nature, learning new skills and to develop their confidence.
Because of Covid 19 we have redeveloped are garden area, adding a fire pit. Every class has been allocated extra time to this area of the curriculum. The Forest school sessions are being led within the guidelines of our risk assessment and being used to support wellbeing as we adapt our curriculum offer to support our pupils.
