Performing arts
Our performing arts provision is a vibrant and valued part of school life at PPS, giving every child the opportunity to perform, build confidence, and showcase their learning.
Each class performs to parents once a year through a class assembly, providing a meaningful opportunity for pupils to share their learning through speaking, music, and performance. Alongside this, pupils benefit from regular music lessons, developing skills in rhythm, singing, and performance across the school.
In the early years, Reception children delight families with a special nativity performance, filled with singing, dancing, and storytelling. In Key Stage 1, pupils take part in a festive Christmas song showcase, celebrating the season through music and performance.
As pupils move into Key Stage 2, opportunities continue to grow. Year 5 pupils learn the ukulele and proudly perform to parents, demonstrating their developing musical skills. Pupils in Years 4 and 5 also take part in a local dance festival, performing alongside other schools and gaining valuable experience of performing to a wider audience. In addition, Key Stage 2 pupils perform in the church, helping them build confidence in a larger, more formal setting.
A true highlight of our performing arts calendar is the Year 6 end-of-school production. This is a memorable event featuring music, dance, and lighting, where every child plays an important role, whether on stage or behind the scenes. It is a celebration of their time at PPS and a wonderful opportunity for pupils to demonstrate creativity, teamwork, and confidence.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and talent our pupils bring to the performing arts, and the way these experiences help them grow in confidence and self-expression.
