Year 5 and 6 Children Write To Local Care Home Residents.

During Children's Mental Health week our Year 5 and 6 children wrote letters to the residents of Waverley Court to build connections in the community and give back to a generation who have given so much.

The last year has been extremely impactive on us all for different reasons and in different ways. It extremely important for us all to remain connected as a community and as part of Mental Health Week the children from years 5 and 6 asked to engage and reach out.

Care homes and supported living environments have been isolating for many, many months and many people in our community have been cut-off from loved ones and friends. We thought it would be a lovely idea to compile some letters and drawings to send to the residents of Waverley Court. A member of staff came up with the idea of sending flowers with the children’s letters to brighten their days.

We are absolutely thrilled with how our gesture was so positively received and that the residents were so pleased with their gifts! Some warmth has even been received in return as the community at Waverley Court has reached back with some writing in reply to our children.
