Special Education Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

Welcome to the SEND area of the website.

This is designed to give parents/carers access to any of the information you may require regarding additional needs provision at Portishead Primary School.

School Environment and Approach

The school has a range of resources to provide access for disabled pupils and visitors including special toilets, a hoist, a lift and ramps wherever needed. Our curriculum is regularly adjusted by class teachers who consult with parents and our inclusion leader to ensure equality of opportunity. We annually review our facilities and this year have created a multi-sensory room for our children who sometimes require a quiet and calm place during the school day.

Every child is unique, every child is special. Here at PPS we are an inclusive school and celebrate all of the characteristics covered by the equality framework and do all we can to allow all children to access mainstream education.

All learning is adapted to meet the needs of our pupils whether that be a learning difficulty or a physical disability. This includes our sports offer, trips and residential experiences.

You can find our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Policy and Looked After Children Policy on the Policies and Key Documents page.

Please also have a look at the related page (EAL).
