Assemblies and Reflection

At our school, assemblies, collective worship and reflection are an important part of daily life, bringing our community together in a meaningful and inclusive way. While we are not a faith school, we follow statutory guidance by providing a daily act of collective worship that is broadly Christian in character, while remaining respectful of all beliefs and backgrounds.

Our programme is carefully planned across the year to ensure a rich and varied experience for pupils. Assemblies explore themes such as kindness, respect, perseverance and community, often linked to broadly Christian values as well as wider moral and social topics. We also celebrate national events and key dates, helping children develop an understanding of the world around them.

Each week includes a range of opportunities, such as singing assemblies, celebration assemblies to recognise achievements, Picture News sessions to discuss current events, and topic-based assemblies that link to learning in class. We also welcome visits from local heroes and inspiring individuals who share their experiences and encourage our pupils to aim high.

Time for reflection is woven throughout, giving children the chance to think quietly, share ideas and develop their own values. Through this balanced and inclusive approach, we support pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in line with statutory expectations.
