Foundation Stage
Welcome to Foundation Stage. Mrs Perry and Mrs Whiting are the class teachers supported by Mrs Neale. Mrs Weavers is the OCTOPUS class teacher supported by Mrs Levett and Mrs Rogers is the TURTLE class teacher supported by Mrs Palmer.
During term 3 we have been comparing traditional and multi-cultural texts, sequencing stories and exploring characters. We have been investigating food from different cultures and drawing original artefacts. We will be celebrating Chinese New Year and making comparisons with our own festivals.
During term 4 we will be thinking about people who help us and how to be a superhero!
Whale Class has outdoor P.E. on Thursday morning and indoor P.E on Monday morning. Octopus Class has outdoor P.E on Tuesday morning and indoor P.E. on Friday morning. Turtle Class has outdoor P.E. on Wednesday morning and indoor P.E. on Tuesday morning. Please make sure all children are appropriately dressed for these sessions and that long hair is tied back on these days.
Our reading books are changed on Mondays and Fridays, however, all children should have their reading books and reading records in class every day. All children will have the opportunity to read with the class teacher every week. However, just 5 minutes reading at home every day can make all the difference to your child’s confidence in this area.
Home-links are sent home every Monday with practical activities to play with your child. Also included are that week’s phonics being covered in class. When reinforcing/revising the letters at home, please ensure you emphasise both letter name and sound (phoneme) as the children need to know both, especially now as we are introducing more digraphs (2 letters that make 1 sound).
