Forest School

Forest School Activities

It is an essential element of our curriculum approach to ensure that all children get to spend some school time surrounded by nature, learning new skills and developing their confidence

Each class will take part in at least five Forest School sessions during this academic year. This builds on our existing commitment to outdoor education which saw the introduction of a Year 4 residential as well as the Year 6 outdoor and adventurous week, which is long-established.

Forest schools give children the opportunity to explore nature, build their outdoor skills, increase self-esteem and take part in team building activities.

KS1 will be taking part in forest school sessions during PPA time every other term. These sessions are organised by a qualified Forest School leader and supported by an LSA.

KS2 will have at least 4 sessions per year.

We are very lucky to have our own Forest School area in the KS2 playground at the front of the school.

In addition to sessions for whole classes, we offer some extra sessions to small groups of children to further develop their interpersonal skills and confidence.

On Forest School days children come in to school wearing their home clothes.

You can find out more about our Forest school Intent, Implementation, Impact and skills progression in the handbook below.
