The FOS help to organise and fund the key social events for the children and whole school community each year. These are events that all staff and children thoroughly enjoy and look forward to each year. These events also raise money that is needed for future developments and ideas for all children in the school to benefit from. FOS discuss ideas and work together to organise events at meetings that they hold in the evenings once a term. They are currently working on fund raising activities to help raise money to enhance the play equipment that is available for the children to use during lunchtimes and playtimes. The Tyre Park and Pirate Island have all been purchased by money raised by the Friends of the School.
Every parent is automatically a member of the Friends of the School and are invited to come along to the meetings to help us to all work together to plan fun social events. The class representatives link with the teacher and the class in order to share ideas and help sell tickets for events and collect items that are needed.
Events that FOS are planning for the year include:
Christmas colouring competition,
Invitation books for books,
A float for the Portishead Carnival,
The Summer Fair and the Christmas Firecracker,
From FOS funds the whole school have a visit from a Pantomine in January every year,
The purchase of year 6 leaver gifts,
Year 6 visit to the Life skills,
Childrens' Discos every February
To find out more come along to the next FOS meeting and hear about the events that are being organised and find out ways that you might be able to help.
